Observator 100 years

Dredging

With our roots in the Netherlands, Observator has a natural insight into water management and the associated dredging industry. With our considerable knowledge and experience Observator assists the dredging industry by executing their projects, and the associated meteorological and hydrological issues.

Efficient and safe working are leading within the dredging industry. Completely surrounded by water, the weather can have a major influence on this. In order to work efficiently and safe, 24/7, Observator offers a wide range of products for the dredging industry. High-quality products, fully tailored to this erratic working environment. Whether it concerns land reclamation or the widening or deepening of a port access channel.

To keep a close eye on the weather and water, Observator offers various meteorological and hydrological sensors, specially designed displays and software systems. Deliveries can range from a single sensor to the installation of a complete system of meteorological or hydrological measurement stations, including telemetry and data processing. From important meteorological factors – like wind, visibility, temperature and precipitation – to hydrological factors such as turbidity, wave and current.
By making this data transparent, it is also possible to manage the effects on the environment. Something that’s really important when dredging in an area with marine fauna species, near a coral reef, a fish farm or pristine beaches.

Furthermore, Observator offers sunscreens and special ATEX certified, pneumatic window wiper systems for vessels. These window wipers are – in collaboration with Servi – specially designed for tough conditions.

Finally, from our precision technique department (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), we are top producers of optical and precision engineering products, both for all entities within the Observator Group and other renowned industries, such as the dredging industry.
