Compost temperature measurement

Wednesday 22 May 2013

To have a good decomposition, due to the thermo reaction, within a Compost heap, you have to keep the temperature above 54 to 60 °C (130 to 140 °F) to kill all the weed seeds.

The temperature level should be below 77 °C (170 °F) because exceeding that, will stop the microbial activity and shuts down the decomposition process.

So to measure the temperature, you take the Temperature Gauge with a long stem 450 to 900 mm (18 to 36 inch) with a max. range of 100/110 °C (220/240 °F). The special handle bar allows the easy insertion of the stem into the centre of Compost heap.
