A powerful tugboat Duke II provided with window wipers and sunscreens

Thursday 25 July 2013

By order of Probus Mare Marine (Cyprus), shipyard Kooiman (Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands) built a powerful tugboat of 34m: Duke II.

Duke II has an ice class rating of 1A super, the highest possible for this type of vessel. This is the highest ice class rating obtainable and the last step before entering icebreaker status. The most obvious influence of the ice class rating is seen in the hull structure of the tugboat: the ice belt above and below the waterline and the internal framing.

The Duke II is employed in the oil and gas industry, where she works as a versatile support vessel by setting and retrieving anchors, towing pontoons and supplying small quantities of fuel and containers.

Observator Vision has provided the wheelhouse of the Duke II with window wipers (Straightline Type C) and sunscreens (own line of sunscreens: Visi-Plus) for clear and safe view during work.
