Collaborating against plastic pollution

Monday 10 July 2023

Great minds think alike. That became clear when The Great Bubble Barrier and Observator Instruments joined forces in the fight against plastic pollution in rivers and oceans. The Great Bubble Barrier as the founder of the bubble curtain, and Observator Instruments as a supplier of hydrological measurement solutions.

The bubble curtain is an effective technology to collect and remove plastic pollution in rivers. The bubble curtain prevents these waste streams from ending up in our oceans.

Currently, the research focusses on the possibilities of this technology with regard to salinization and oxygen enrichment. The measurement instruments of Observator Instruments are of great help, in particular the EXO1 probe, as it ensures reliable and efficient data collection.

The EXO1 probe provides a solid basis for accurate measurements on multiple parameters related to water quality. During the measurements, depth profiles were made at various points in the water, in order to obtain a cross-section of the water.

Both The Great Bubble Barrier and Observator Instruments look back on a successful start of a promising collaboration.
