The world’s largest vessel, Pioneering Spirit, is a platform installation/decommissioning and pipelay vessel built for the Allseas company. The vessel was built by Daewoo shipyard, South Korea, and final completion will be in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The vessel is 124 m wide and 382 m long and is designed to remove and install oil rigs in a single lift.
In November 2014 the Pioneering Spirit set sail form South Korea to Rotterdam harbour and arrived on 8 January 2015. During the final completion, this vessel will be equipped with an OMC-160 wind speed and direction sensor.
The OMC-160 is a wind sensor based on the cup and vane principle, with a long-life time and a high accuracy. Highly suitable for marine, shipping and offshore.
